Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale CAMHS is a high-performing and dynamic child and adolescent mental health service, working closely with our partners in Children's Services, education and the VCSE sector to develop models of care within the principles of the i-thrive framework. Our vision is for our local community to be well-equipped to support children and young people to grow up with good emotional health and well-being. In addition to the successes of our Early Attachment service, Mental Health Support Team (schools), and innovative #Thrive team (emotional well-being service for children and families), Rochdale has experience of establishing Our Place, an integrated multi-agency "No Wrong Door" approach to supporting children and adolescents who are on the edge of care or who are Looked After. We are committed at a commissioning and senior leadership level to build on this experience. We aspire to provide our children and young people in care with high quality, trauma-informed services, including timely access to assessment and psychological therapies.
We are excited to recruit to a newly commissioned team in Rochdale which is co-located withinChildren's Services. We are looking for a dynamic and clinically experienced Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to work closely with the Clinical Psychologist to develop the service offer and provide a high quality service to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of our cared for children and their parents / carers.
Main duties of the job
In particular, the post-holder will provide highly specialist advice and consultation to social workers and other professionals around the needs of children in care; will facilitate direct and indirect assessments and therapeutic interventions with cared for children and their parents / carers (including foster carers and family and friends carers), support the development and delivery of training and reflective practice and facilitate the clinical supervision of other professionals to undertake therapeutic interventions. Relevant training and CPD opportunities to develop the successful post-holder's competencies will be considered to facilitate aspects of the role and service provision.
The successful post-holder will liaise closely withCAMHSto ensure timely access to services for vulnerable children and families in line with i-thrive; and will work alongside the clinical psychologist and CAMHS operational manager to develop and facilitate this service provision.

- UKCC nursing or Diploma in social work plus experience to post graduate diploma level
- Substantial experience of working within a health delivered child & adolescent mental health outpatient / community service.
- Highly developed knowledge of mental health issues in young people and of issues relevant for cared for children and their families.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and national policies in relation to children and young people.
- Highly developed knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for the psychological care and treatment as an autonomous practitioner with complex and challenging service users within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
- Ability to perform complex psychological assessments as an autonomous practitioner across a range of mental health presentations
- Ability to develop packages of care based on assessed needs and formulation. Ability to develop a range of therapeutic activities across a range of settings
- Ability to identify and manage risk in individuals presenting with mental health needs
