An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 8a Clinical Psychology post (band 7/8a Preceptorship Clinical Psychologists will also be considered) to support the development of an older people's psychological therapy service on the older people's in-patient wards (both functional and organic) in the borough of Stockport.
Successful candidates will be part of a vibrant and growing Trust Wide Older People's Psychological Therapy Service. The existing clinical team collectively has expertise within a wide range of evidence based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Analytical Therapy, EMDR and third wave psychological interventions including Compassion Based Approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.

Main duties of the job
To provide consultation and formulation to staff within the older people's inpatient wards, supported by clinical psychology colleagues.
To provide a qualified specialist clinical psychology service for older people with functional and organic presentations on inpatient wards. The post holder will provide specialist assessment, including neuropsychological assessment, formulation and interventions for a clinical caseload.
A key function of the role will be to support inpatient staff, staff in the acute care pathway and CMHT practitioners and to develop a psychological understanding and context for service users and carers.
Operating in an integrated and inclusive style you will work closely with both ward-based staff and the MDTs to support the development of individual care planning.
The post holders will propose and implement evidence-based practice, utilising research skills for audit and service developments. There are excellent opportunities within the service to become involved with service developments.
The services have close links with the Manchester, Lancaster and Liverpool doctorate training programmes.
The post holders will be managerially and professionally accountable to the Older People's Principal Clinical Psychologist.
