Job description
Job responsibilities
This is a new role and we are looking for an experienced GP who is able to make it their own. Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) embrace innovative approaches to providing mental health care to local people, working alongside system colleagues across our Integrated Neighbourhoods to deliver the highest possible standard of care. This role builds on work from the Community Mental Health Transformation Exemplar, which sought to ensure local people have access to the right level of care, from the right place, at the right time. In collaboration with colleagues across primary care, the voluntary sector and broader community, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough are passionate about embedding the use of community-based assets into clinical care; this role will support medical colleagues to further achieve this.
The post-holder will be expected to work with psychiatrists and their teams within CPFT, as well as GPs across the county, to increase the use of lifestyle medicine principles in clinical practice. We would consider an applicant with a particular interest in one aspect of Lifestyle Medicine or a generalist wishing to address all six of the pillars that form the lifestyle medicine principles.
Applicants are expected to be experienced in driving innovation independently and be able to evaluate and evidence the effectiveness of interventions. We are looking for someone who will thrive in shaping this role and be able to work with both local team members and national colleagues to improve health outcomes for local people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Increase knowledge and understanding of the principles of lifestyle medicine amongst psychiatrists and their teams in secondary care, and amongst primary care colleagues.
- Increase the adoption of lifestyle medicine principles in clinical practice across Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.
- Promote not just signposting to lifestyle medicine approaches but how these can be role-modelled inside existing care pathways.
- Embed the use of local tools such as the How Are You Cambridgeshire & Peterborough websites to bring lifestyle medicine inside clinical environments.
- Share good practice of lifestyle medicine principles with local and national colleagues.
