12-month Fixed Term Post | ST5+ or Equivalent

Are you a motivated and capable General Surgery registrar looking to develop your skills in a high-performing tertiary centre? UCLH is seeking an ST5-level (or equivalent) General Surgeon to join our Gastrointestinal Services Division for a 12-month Clinical Fellowship. An interest in colorectal surgery) is welcomed but not essential. This role offers broad exposure to complex GI and colorectal pathology within a supportive, academically active environment, alongside full participation in service delivery and training.

The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in advanced colorectal surgery, peri-operative decision-making, and multidisciplinary care, while working alongside leading clinicians in the field.

Main duties of the job

Who Are We Looking For?

We welcome applications from candidates atST5 level or above, or those withequivalent experience, in General Surgery. You must hold (or be eligible for)full GMC registrationat the start of the post.

Essential attributes include:

  1. Experience in General Surgery, with or without a defined colorectal subspecialty interest
  2. Good operative and peri-operative decision-making skills
  3. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  4. Commitment to training, service delivery, and professional development

Desirable attributes:

  1. An interest in colorectal surgery
  2. Experience in minimally invasive surgery
  3. Academic or research interest (not essential)

The post holder will participate in a1 in 10 on-call rota, contributing fully to the General Surgery service.
