The team is supported by Clinical Practice Facilitators, two departmental Play Specialists and has strong links with the Paediatric and Adolescent Division. UCLH Emergency Department strives on team work. You will need to have strong communication and be adaptive to working in emergency situations and an eagerness to advance in Emergency Nursing practice.

This is a responsible role and we will endeavour to encourage you to play an important part in strengthening our status as one London's leading Emergency Departments. The shift pattern is internal rotation and will include working within the resuscitation room.

Main duties of the job

1. To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse (or key worker) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:o protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clientso the assessment of care and health education needso the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient

2. To be designated to take charge of the ward/department regularly in the absence of the person holding continuing responsibility3. To work in accordance with UCLH Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards and contribute towards achieving the Trust's "Top 10" Objectives4. To maintain effective communication5. To provide a high standard of holistic patient-centred care6. To act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to student nurses and others and participate in clinical supervision programmes as appropriate
