We have a vacancy for a Metabolic Advanced Assistant Practitioner within our specialist Metabolic Dietetics team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to undertake a development post to become a Band 5 Advanced Assistant Practitioner (subject to Annex 21 terms and conditions.
The postholder will be a highly valued member of the multidisciplinary team, and this role offers the opportunity to work closely with dietitians, metabolic consultants, psychologists, specialist nurses and wider MDT colleagues.What We're Looking For:We would welcome applicants who are passionate about supporting and inspiring others, and who have a desire to expand their knowledge and gain expertise in this very specialised area. Main duties of the job
You will be fully supported to learn new skills which allow you to work with adults with rare Inherited Disorders of Metabolism (IMD) who require specialist low protein diets to manage their condition. You will play an integral role in practical dietary education and training sessions for individuals, their families and carers, including:o Meal planning and recipe preparation using specialist dietary productso Teaching patients and carers how to read food labels and calculate macronutrient allowanceso Ensuring nutritional adequacy in complex metabolic diets - if a person with no dietetic/health experience is thinking of applying, this may sound a bit complicated/challenging!o Group education sessions for staff working in care settings both face to face & virtuallyo Supporting clinical research and contributing to service development

Pay arrangements are:
After completion of training, subject to meeting the competencies outlined in the attached document, the post-holder will move to entry level Band 5.
(i) up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
75% = £28,347.00 Basic plus £7,560.00 HCAS Allowance
(ii) more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate;
70% = £26,457.20 Basic plus £7,560.00 HCAS Allowance
(iii) more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate;
65% = £24,567.40 Basic plus £7,560.00 HCAS Allowance
