Clinical Research Fellow – Haemastasis

Job summary

This is a new 3 year clinical research fellow, working towards a Phd at UCL. The candidate will be working primarily in the haemostasis research unit, UCL and with the haemostasis and research team at UCLH. The applicant would be expected to be a senior haematology trainee who will be part of the clinical and research team and liaising with other scientists and clinicians within the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will be working within the clinical and laboratory environments , gaining experience of specialist laboratory techniques, clinical trials and specialist clinics within haemostasis and thrombosis and in other subspecialist areas.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Medical degree
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration. NB: Non-UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register by date of appointment.
  • Completed core medial training or equivalent

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Clinical Governance framework of the NHS (including Research governance) and understanding of current changes in the organisation and management structures of the NHS. Ability to act within these parameters

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Clinical audit experience

Desirable

  • Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in Haematology
  • Experience in haemostasis/thrombosis
  • Experience of laboratory research

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical setting
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, to delegate responsibility as appropriate and to supervise staff
