Job summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-driven Data Manager to join our surgical division on a 9-month fixed-term maternity cover. A significant part of this role involves accurate, high-volume data entry, so we are seeking someone who is confident working with detailed datasets and maintaining excellent accuracy. You will also support improvements to data processes and contribute to national reporting that directly impacts patient care.

Working closely with clinical teams, operational managers and our Senior Data Manager, you'll help turn information into meaningful insights that support service development. The role also involves contacting patients to collect consent, so clear and professional communication is essential.

Main duties of the job

Data Management & Entry o Accurately enter patient and surgical data into national registries and databases, including QOMS and NJR. o Maintain a high standard of data quality through timely and precise data input. o Collect and record patient consent for registry submission via telephone, text message, and written forms, ensuring consistently high consent rates. o Undertake data entry and analysis for divisional audits of surgical outcomes. Operational Support o Support the Senior Data Manager and wider division with day-to-day data management tasks and requests. o Complete, maintain and improve internal systems that support efficient data collection and validation processes. o Prepare, collate, and distribute routine operational and clinical reports to managers, surgeons and other stakeholders. Service Development & Improvement o Contribute to the development of improved processes for data capture and workflow efficiency. o Identify gaps or issues in data quality and work with the team to implement solutions. Governance & Compliance o Ensure all data is collected, stored and transmitted in line with information governance requirements and patient confidentiality standards. o Support audit activities by providing accurate, timely data and assisting in resolving data discrepancies.
