Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for Consultant Neurologists to join us on a substantive basis supporting our Acute Neurology Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) pathways which have recently had permanent funding secured following a pilot phase.
The successful candidates will provide expert input on cases presenting to the Emergency Department at University College Hospital and support colleagues across the ED, SDEC and ward areas at the Tower.
The successful candidates will also support the General Neurology / Stroke services as per the job plan included in the full job description.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role are to provide expert neurologist input to cases presenting to the Emergency Department / Same Day Emergency Care services at University College Hospital. Multidisciplinary working with other colleagues across different services and professional backgrounds will be essential for a successful candidate.

- Eligible for full GMC registration, with current license to practice
- On the Specialist Register for Neurology at the time of appointment or within 6 months of CCT
- Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of stroke and neurology
Desirable
- PhD or MD or equivalent specialist training
Experience

- Evidence of having worked and being able to communicate within an Interdisciplinary / multispecialty service with appropriate levels of communication through direct discussions with team members, MDT meetings, and presentations to the team
- Involvement in and understanding of the Clinical Governance
- Experience of audit and willingness to institute audit exercises.

- Evidence of being able to engage and communicate at a National and International level
- Able to engage and work with management as appropriate for a consultant that wishes to become an active member of the Trust
