Violence Prevention and Reduction (VPR) Trainer

Job summary

The Chief Nurse division are looking for a Violence Prevention and Reduction (VPR) Trainer to join their team. This post is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with an interest in violence reduction within a healthcare setting.

This is an exciting time to join UCLH as we develop our VPR offering to protect our staff and our patients. You will report to our VPR Lead Trainer and will be responsible for training delivery of assault avoidance and restraint training. In this role, you will be expected to deliver training in the classroom to a minimum of 3 days per week.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a specific set of skills and qualifications to meet the needs of the service. The successful applicant will preferably come VPR training background, working towards or hold National Federation of Personal Safety (NFPS) accreditation. You will also hold educational qualifications to deliver high quality training and advice to all our staff.

In addition to working with you line manager, you will also demonstrate the ability to build effective working relationships with clinical and non-clinical leads, subject matter experts and a range of external stakeholders.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification / training and experience
  • Conflict Resolution Training Trainer (CRT) qualified in the national learning outcomes
  • Physical Intervention Training trainer (PIST)
  • Understanding of National, local and specialist policies and their potential impact on violence and aggression issues.
  • Evidence of post registration professional development
  • Detailed knowledge of best practice and governance together with the ability to disseminate knowledge and information to staff
  • Adult teaching qualification

  • Previous experience of delivering PMVA/VPR and Physical Intervention training skills in an Acute NHS setting.
