An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist clinical or counselling psychologist role within the UCLH Adult Cancer & Haematology Psychology & Psychotherapy Services. This post is an existing role within a friendly and innovative team working across haematology, and cancer services. Psychology provision is an integral part of UCLH's highly specialist multidisciplinary services.
We are looking for a motivated, skilled, enthusiastic clinician who has previous clinical health psychology experience and a particular interest in working as part of a multidisciplinary/multiprofessional teams. The post involves providing inpatient and outpatient psychology input to adults with a haematology or cancer diagnosis, with a focus on working with people living with non-malignant haematology conditions including sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia and other types of anaemia. There will also be an opportunity to provide consultation, supervision, reflective practice and training of non-psychologists within the Trust.
Supervision will be provided by two senior psychologists within the haematology team and there will be opportunities to work alongside other psychologists and psychotherapists working across other medical specialities at UCLH. Links with university psychology training courses are strong and clinicians within the service are encouraged to engage in research and continuing professional development as part of their work roles.
Main duties of the job
All applicants must have:
specialist clinical skills in at least two formal psychological and therapeutic approaches
completed doctoral level training (or its equivalent) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society
registration as a practitioner psychologist within the HCPC

This clinical/counselling psychologist role will involve psychological work with individuals and groups with a haematology or cancer diagnosis. The majority of this role will involve psychological work with people living with non-malignant haematology conditions such as sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia and other types of anaemia. Alongside direct clinical work, the postholder will be involved in consultation, supervision, training, audit and leadership work and will be expected to regularly attend multidisciplinary and treatment planning meetings. This role and the associated work will be primarily based on-site in the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, the Grafton Way Building, and University College Hospital.
