Job summary
The post holder will be a subject matter expert on all Information Governance (IG) related matters. They are responsible for supporting the Information Governance Manager for Research in all aspects of the Information Governance agenda to ensure UCLH meets its obligations in respect of data protection, confidentiality and information security across the Trust but particularly for all Research related activities at UCLH.
The post holder will act as a point of contact for all IG queries from the Research community, providing advice, guidance and approval or escalating as appropriate to the IG Manager for Research. The post holder will be responsible for advising on, implementing and raising awareness of nationally mandated guidance and standards from the ICO, NHS England, Department of Health & Social Care, Health Research Authority (HRA), National Institute for Health Research and UKRI.
The post holder will be responsible for compliance with UK data protection legislation such as the Records of Processing Activity (ROPA), including monitoring and reporting on compliance. They will provide expert advice and guidance in areas such as DPIAs, data breach management, and data sharing across the complex areas of corporate and clinical services. They will have a sound understanding of current legislative requirements and will monitor continually changing technology advances and national requirements.
This role is a hybrid role working from home and occasionally onsite.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:o Providing effective and timely advice to trust staff on all aspects of Information Governanceo Ensuring research departments maintain a high degree of awareness and application of IG standardso Providing advice and monitoring DPIAs and ensuring that DPIAs are carried out on all relevant projectso Presenting highly complex, sensitive and potentially contentious information to staff, management, third parties, patients and the public. This will require developed negotiation and motivation skillso Developing recommendations to resolve issues of non-compliance in the Trust offering a range of options which are suitable both for service provision and for legislative complianceo Providing expert guidance on legal and statutory obligations relating to research, information and data governance, including the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, DSPT, NHS England, ICO and HRA guidanceo Assisting the IG Manager for Research in managing the Trust's annual IG work programme to achieve compliance with and improvements against the DSPTo Managing and balancing a wide range of demanding and conflicting deadlines in a complex workloado Writing, implementing, reviewing and updating Trust wide Information Governance policies, guidelines, protocols, procedures and processeso Interpreting national and international IG and data protection legislation, codes of practice, policy, and guidance and proposing policy and service changes
