UCLH is seeking to appoint a Consultant in adult Audiovestibular Medicine/Neuro-otology with an interest in transitional age children for paediatric Audiovestibular Medicine. This is an unique opportunity to work in the largest multi-disciplinary department devoted to Audiovestibular Medicine in the UK.The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospital (RNENTEDH), part of the Specialist Hospital Board.The Consultant will be joining a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals from a wide range of disciplines working collaboratively in the investigation, treatment, management and rehabilitation of patients presenting with Audiovestibular disorders.The Consultant will be involved in a full range of clinical activities regarding the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of hearing and balance. The consultant will be expected to have excellent communication skills and high level of clinical experience/knowledge in Audiovestibular Medicine/Neuro-otology. The consultant will be expected to contribute to the administrative, teaching, research and management activities within the department.
Applicants will need to have completed their training with a CCT in Audiovestibular Medicine or be within 6 months of attainment of a CCT in Audiovestibular Medicine by the date of interview.
Main duties of the job
The University London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a consultant in adult Audiovestibular Medicine/Neuro-otology. This post involves providing care for patients with complex audiovestibular disorders. The consultant will contribute to the teaching of medical students and trainee audiovestibular physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team and to participate in postgraduate meetings of the department as well as audit, governance and training meetings. A strong desire to improve governance standards is essential. The consultants in the Department represent the department on various committees within the Trust as well as taking responsibility for particular delegated areas according to their interests and availability. The applicant will need to have a proven track record of research, with a PhD/MD/MSc in a related field to the specialty and experience of teaching at Masters level being desirable.
