Job summary

University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Urogynaecology with a special interest in Mesh complications (5.5 PAs) within the Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Unit and London Complex Mesh Centre (LCMC).The Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Unit is a BSUG-accredited tertiary service with a commitment to excellence in multidisciplinary clinical care, surgical innovation, and high-quality training. The LCMC consists of a large multi-disciplinary team (MDT) providing care for care for women experiencing complications after pelvic mesh insertion for urinary incontinence and vaginal prolapse, as outlined in the NHS England specification. The MDT includes surgeons, specialist nurses, imaging specialists, pain management specialists, physiotherapists, psychologists and anaesthetists.We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual who wishes to join our well-established and dedicated multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

As a tertiary referral unit, we provide care for patients with mesh complications, recurrent prolapse, combined rectal and genital prolapse, and concurrent urinary and anal incontinence. The successful applicant will work within a long-established multidisciplinary team, including colleagues in functional and reconstructive urology, colorectal surgery, and neurogastroenterology.The post will comprise 5.5 sessions each week, including outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings, surgical operating lists, and inpatient ward rounds. The post holder will also participate in the gynaecology consultant on-call rota and should possess the required clinical skills to respond to gynaecological emergencies.The successful applicant will join our close-knit team, founded on mutual respect and the delivery of excellence in clinical care.
