Locum Consultant - Special Interest in Gastrointestinal Pathology

Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional candidate for less than full time locum Consultant Cellular Pathologist specialising in Gastrointestinal pathology (8 PAs) as a locum 12-month fixed term Consultant in Cellular Pathology.The postholder will be working with colleagues in Cellular Pathology, clinical and laboratory, as well as several partners and other organisations to deliver gastrointestinal pathology to a highly specialised service at UCLH.

All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of receiving CCST/ CCT in Histopathology at the time of interview. The post-holder will be expected to have experience of dealing with complex cases / resections and preferably have worked at a specialist centre. A higher medical degree in this area is desirable.Candidates wishing to undertake part time work will be considered.

Main duties of the job

This is a less than full time locum post and the successful applicant will join a team of 10 established Consultants in providing a high quality diagnostic reporting service for the Gastrointestinal (medical and surgical) teams. The post will also include support for the multiple gastrointestinal multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. There is no on-call commitment. Participation in the post mortem rota is possible.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • FRCPath or equivalent.
  • Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
  • MBBS or equivalent.
