Job summary

North Central London (NCL) Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) has an exciting six-month secondment opportunity for a midwife to support NCL Trusts to implement the refreshed Maternity Support Worker Competency, Education and Career Development Framework (2024).

UCLH will be hosting this role. The post is two days a week, hosted by UCLH and will require the post-holder to work within the LMNS NCL team and also work collaboratively with all NCL maternity Trusts to benchmark themselves against the refreshed framework and identify work already achieved and areas where there is still work to be done, working with the Trusts to create an achievable action plan which will support them to get the best out of their support worker workforce.

This post is only open to applicants who currently work in an NCL Trust

Main duties of the job

The post-holder should become well-versed with the refreshed framework and have an in-depth understanding of the requirements of the project.

The post-holder will be required to build relationships with the relevant people in the Trusts that will be supportive and productive to maximise the impact of the project.

There should be an understanding that each Trust may be in a different point in the journey and therefore support should be tailored to allow each Trust to get the full benefit of the project.

Reporting systems should be built into the project to feedback to the LMNS on the progress of work at the Trusts and be part of any required governance structures.

This post will be an opportunity to identify how we can support and develop our support worker workforce and recognise the valuable work that they do. There will need to be action plans put in place for continuing this work beyond the limits of this project.
