Job summary
Are you a compassionate, experienced and motivated nurse, looking for a fantastic new opportunity to make a difference to the lives of people living with or at risk of Huntington's disease and their loved ones?
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Multidisciplinary Huntington's Disease Service, based at the internationally renowned National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery within the UCL Huntington's Disease Centre (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/ion/research/research-centres/huntingtons-disease-centre). The Centre combines world-class scientific expertise alongside high-quality clinical care, and our clinical service sees people with/at risk of Huntington's disease and provides input across the disease trajectory from genetic counselling, education and support before and at onset, through monitoring and management of mild, moderate and complex disability to palliative care at the end of life.
As this is a junior specialist role, support will be given by the team to enable the successful candidate to gain the necessary knowledge and expertise to allow them to work as an autonomous practitioner
Main duties of the job
The junior clinical nurse specialist is pivotal in ensuring the provision of high-quality care, contributing to and supporting the clinics and in time, running their own outpatient nurse led telephone, video and face to face clinics.
The postholder will also participate in the patient and professional response service, acting as an expert resource both internally and externally and will contribute to the efficient running of the service through clinic coordination and pre clinic triage, service development initiatives, the clinical governance programme and clinical research.
The postholder will therefore need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
