Job summary
This is a rotational post, aimed at consolidating knowledge and experience across acute rotations at University College Hospital, University College Hospital Grafton Way Building and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The role provides high quality patient assessment and treatment as part the specialist therapy team on each rotation. This will be in the acute medicine elderly care department.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist occupational therapy for a wide range of patients requiring
assessment and rehabilitation in acute inpatient and outpatient environments.
To provide specialist advice and information to patients, carers, and other professionals.
To perform manual handling tasks such as the hoisting and/or transfer of patients, fitting and delivery of appropriate equipment,
To participate in evidence-based audit and service development projects relevant to the area of speciality will be carried out in conjunction with the Senior Therapists (OT/PT) to ensure high standards of care & service development are maintained and improved upon.
To participate in the senior rotational scheme within the following ward settings including:
Emergency Medicine including the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Enhanced Care Unit
Stroke (Acute Stroke Unit/ Hyper Acute Stroke Unit)
Elderly Medicine
Respiratory Medicine and Infectious diseases
Internal medicine
Oncology
Haematology
Surgery including Thoracic, Urology, Gastro and Gynaecology and Emergency surgery.
Orthopaedics both Elective and Trauma
Teenage Cancer Unit
Outpatient Proton Beam Therapy
