An opportunity has arisen within the Royal National Ear, Nose & Throat & Eastman Dental Hospital for a part time Consultant in Periodontology or Restorative Dentistry. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual wanting to join a dynamic unit at the forefront of Periodontology.
The 6 PA post is substantive and available to start immediately. It is a split post primarily based at the Royal National ENT& Eastman Dental Hospital, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London hospital NHS Foundation Trust with an outreach component at Charing Cross Hospital. Successful applicants will join an established team in providing a wide range of periodontal services including treatment, teaching and research. Applicants will be expected to be innovative in their thinking with a dynamic approach to patient care and training and will also provide a Consultant led service for patients seen with head and neck cancer and bone marrow transplants. They will be expected to have exceptional skills in complex and advanced management of periodontal patients including the provision of advanced periodontal and implant surgery and clinical research including patient assessment for oral disease which will form part of the outreach component. The postholder will be expected to show leadership and management attributes including leading a team with excellent communication skills.

Main duties of the job
University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a part time substantive Consultant in Periodontology or Restorative Dentistry with a specific interest in Periodontology and an outreach component which involves the oral health assessment and management of oral cancer patients with head and neck disease starting with immediate effect. The individual will be dedicated to excellence in education, driving clinical research and the provision of high-quality patient care and delivery of performance targets with a deep understanding and ability of managing patients and learners with of complex needs.
The post holder will be a role model and demonstrate a commitment to driving high quality education and expected to be confident in the management of patients with complex treatment needs including surgery and will be able to supervise trainees undertaking such procedures. The outreach component will include a clinical research component alongside the pretreatment assessment and management of oncology patients. A commitment to meeting performance targets and service initiatives and enthusiasm is essential with expectation of strong team working. The post holder is expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of periodontology and also clinical research.
They will work closely with the Clinical Lead at the RNENT & EDH Hospital and at the Charing Cross Hospital, the outreach site, and expected to meet the mandatory training requirements of the Trust.
