Job summary

We are recruiting a fixed term (31st March 2025) Research Reporting Radiographer at Band 8a with post graduate reporting qualification(s) to join our team. The team is led by consultant reporting radiographers and the service is growing rapidly.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated radiographer to apply for a role with ringfenced research and reporting, directly contributing to service as an advanced clinical practitioner and the evidence base underpinning radiographic practice.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, maintain self-audit and contribute to departmental and system wide CPD sessions. The post is in support of LungIMPACT, examining the use of artificial intelligence triage of chest X-rays. You will be expected to participate in both the learning and teaching components of the Academy.

The Imaging Department has close working relationships with ED, Respiratory as well as providing a busy service to GP patients, including a reporting radiographer-led Straight to CT pathway for GP patients attending for Chest X-ray.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, highly motivated radiographer with reporting qualification(s) and a keen interest in this area. Applicants require excellent verbal and written communication skills and a patient centred approach.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting role for a dedicated and enthusiastic reporting radiographer with post graduate reporting qualification(s).

You will be required to interpret radiographs within your scope of practise and provide a written clinical report for the referring clinician. You will be able to report examinations requested by GPs, ED and Trust clinicians. This will require communication of significant and unexpected findings as required and in line with trust policy.

The clinical role is job planned to include Direct Clinical Care (DCC) via rostered reporting sessions, along with research time and Supplementary Professional Activities (SPA) to fulfil the 4 pillars of Advanced Clinical Practise. Working closely with the consultant radiographer and principal investigator, regional and national stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver LungMPACT trial at UCLH examining the impact of artificial intelligence triage of chest X-rays on the time to diagnosis of lung cancer.

You will also be participating in REALMs and teaching, both informal and formal as we build our collaborative North Central London Imaging Academy with other Imaging colleagues in the ICS, excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

There will be the opportunity to report from home in the future as the digital diagnostics programme rolls out across NCL and in agreement with your line manager. There is also the opportunity to support backlog reduction by working additional hours as required
