We are delighted to share we are recruiting for a Band 6 Endocrine Senior Staff Nurse. This is an exciting new role within our Endocrine service.
The Endocrine Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for the development of innovative nursing practice for patients within Endocrinology. The post-holder is also expected to facilitate the development of other nurses, to benefit patient care and to be an education resource on Endocrine conditions to all members of the Trust-wide multidisciplinary team.
The position will include supporting the Endocrine Clinical Nurse Specialist team in Dynamic Function Test day case investigations including Insulin Tolerance Test, Glucagon stress test, Short Synacthen Test, Hydrocortisone / Metyrapone day curve, Octreotide challenge test, Water deprivation test, Saline suppression test, Dexamethasone stress test, subcutaneous and intramuscular injection. Plus, other related stimulation and suppression testing for an array of endocrine disorders including, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, neuro-endocrine adenoma and reproductive disorders.
Main duties of the job
You must be an excellent communicator. You must have completed a Degree in Nursing. Previous experience in the management of Endocrine conditions is essential. Experience working in an outpatient department with patients with chronic conditions is desirable.
You will join a team of Consultant Endocrinologists, Specialist Registrars, Clinical Endocrine Fellows and Clinical Nurse Specialists. You will be actively involved in supporting the endocrine team in maintaining and developing care services in Endocrinology.
