Job summary

Main duties of the job

To assist the principal production technicians and QA staff to ensure all products are prepared in accordance to current guidelines. To ensure that all activities undertaken within the units meet current legislation such as GMP/GDP, GCP, Health & Safety, COSSH, and that all work documentation and procedures meet these regulations.

Job responsibilities

1. To be responsible for ensuring that all requirements of the pharmaceutical quality system and validation plan are fully completed and documented at the specified time and that all staffs involved in these activities are suitably trained.

2. To communicate effectively complex technical and medicine information within the pharmacy and wider multidisciplinary team.

3. To communicate effectively medicine information to patient and patient representatives.

4. To ensure that all action plans drawn up in the event of any out of specification result or deviation, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and are completed and fully documented.

5. To undertake worksheet generation and final dispensing / production checks on adult, neonatal and paediatric PN, IV additives (CIVAS), clinical trial products, and aseptically prepared batches.

6. To report any deficiencies to the Production Manager and Chief Technicians.

  • Portfolio demonstrating competence of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge and CPD.
  • Previous evaluated experience of supervising staff and workload on a day to day basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures.

Desirable

  • 6 months NHS experience or private can be considered too.
  • Demonstrated experience of ability to appraise staff and set performance objectives.
