Job summary

We are looking for a bright and talented individual to join the finance function at UCLH in this exciting role primarily supporting the on-going development of the Patient Level Costing System (PLICs) and the Trust's Service Line Reporting Framework. The role will also provide exposure to the Trust's Cost Improvement and Productivity programmes and will contribute to the developing National Costing Transformation Programme.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and quick learning finance professional who is interested in developing their knowledge of PLICs and associated processes. You will thrive on providing first class support and meaningful information to your customers both internally within the organisation and externally to National regulatory bodies.

You will possess strong analytical skills and be fully conversant in using MS Office particularly Excel, and will either have experience of SQL or a wiliness learn it.

This is a wide-ranging role and the post holder will have unique opportunities to gain experience in these specialised areas both on a trust wide and national level with the support and guidance of team members. The role will provide an excellent opportunity for an able and enthusiastic candidate to actively contribute to the development of decision support tools and processes within the Trust.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level, with a strong academic record.
  • CCAB qualified or part qualified accountant or equivalent knowledge and experience in a relevant finance or informatics role.

Experience

Essential

  • Proven and substantial NHS experience within a finance function.
  • Detailed knowledge of the operation of NHS PLICS and SLR and Costing returns
  • Detailed technical knowledge of NHS finance, including costing and funding flows.
  • Demonstrate experience of database and business intelligence tools
  • Understands rationale for Standing Financial Instructions and has experience of ensuring that they are adhered to
  • Experience of using General Ledger and Financial reporting software packages
  • Able to work unsupervised and take decisions with minimal reference to line manager.
  • Able to draw inferences from large complex information and data sets which could have major implications for Trust policy and decision making.
  • Able to work confidently with large volumes of data of variable quality, presenting outputs in a clear way to enable understanding by finance, operational and clinical staff.

Desirable

  • Experience in Usercost Costing System and SQL
