Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist, with an interest in Vocational Therapy to join our team as a Band 7 in the Integrated Post Covid service. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract, following funding to develop our existing post COVID Service.

The UCLH post-COVID service commenced in May 2020 and is the lead provider for North Central London (NCL) and works with borough-based services to provide support and assessment for patients with severe symptoms following COVID-19 infection. There is a close partnership with post-COVID community services in NCL and regular multi-disciplinary team meetings.

We are looking for someone who has relevant clinical experience in managing long term conditions or is familiar with assessment and treatment of patients with Post Covid. You will need experience with Vocational rehab, fatigue management and cognitive rehabilitation.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and motivated OT who can provide decisive and effective therapy input and can demonstrate leadership qualities, effective communication skills and a flexible approach when working under pressure. You will need appropriate NHS experience at a Band 6 level.

Main duties of the job

To provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment for adults referred to the integrated post Covid service, in clinic and outpatient settings.

To take a lead role in the delivery and co-ordination of the Therapy Team in the post Covid service. This requires working autonomously and incorporating evidenced-based practice in the management of patient care.

To have a specialist interest and understanding in Vocational Rehabilitation. To provide specialist Vocational Rehabilitation assessment and intervention to individual patients with Long COVID presenting with complex needs

To work within a multi-disciplinary team and liaise appropriately with members of the multidisciplinary integrated post covid team and service users.

To assess and treat own caseload of clients who have Post COVID symptom; such post viral fatigue, cognition and vocational rehabilitation needs and other complex presentation.

To complete assessments of patients which include standardised outcome measures.To input into the overall assessment of post covid patients, recording the assessment on our electronic health record and to attend a weekly MDT meeting to feedback on these and other patients.Line manage and supervise less experienced occupational therapists and students while leading on and complying with professional and departmental standards of practice.

To provide clinical leadership to staff within the wider acute therapy service when required due to staff absence.
