Services will be provided within our newly redeveloped emergency floor with access to state of the art in situ diagnostics with rapid access to emergency ambulatory care and specialist support.

Provision of high quality urgent care is a strategic priority for UCLH and successful candidates will join us as we embark on our ambitious plans to transform emergency care services for our local population. We seek to embed service improvement, education and innovation in all aspects of our work

Main duties of the job

University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint General Practitioners with a commitment to high quality patient care and innovative service delivery to work in the Urgent Treatment Centre of the Emergency Department at University College Hospital. Recruitment of a dedicated team of emergency primary care practitioners is a critical component of our workforce development plans for emergency care.

These practitioners will be fully embedded members of our emergency services team and will form an integral part of the implementation of our urgent and emergency care strategy. Opportunities will exist, subject to agreement, for the development of urgent care education, innovation and research. We view these posts as outstanding opportunities for professional development.

It is envisaged that the posts would be part-time as part of a portfolio role. Successful applicants would ideally also work in traditional direct patient contact primary care services during the year (e.g. GP surgeries, GP out of hours) to maintain clinical skills, and develop a broad understanding of the practice and delivery of primary care services in multiple settings.

Applications are particularly welcomed from GPs and those who have recently completed postgraduate training, and current GPST3 trainees who would expect to have completed training by August 2020.

The Trust is also offering paid time (10% SPA) for directed activities following discussion with the GP UTC Lead.
