Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Cancer Drug Development. The aim of this position is to offer comprehensive specialist training in all aspects of running early phase oncology clinical trials including protocol development, regulatory procedures, associated translational research projects and presentation of research at meetings. Support and opportunities for pursuing higher research degrees are also available.

These full-time posts are available from February 2024 and August 2024 and will be for a period of up to 12 months in the first instance and there is potential opportunity to extend beyond 12 months. Applicants must demonstrate as part of their application, how they meet the essential requirements of the post. In particular, applicants should have a medical degree and GMC registration. Experience in oncology and clinical research are an advantage. Fluency in English and aptitude with writing and publishing manuscripts are essential

This post would be particularly suitable for a trainee who intends to pursue an academic oncology career with an interest in translational research and drug development. However the post also will provide important training in generic and transferable skills for non-academic trainee.

The CRF is also supported by funding from Cancer Research UK and the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC). It has a remit to progress high quality clinical research in any domain but with a specific focus on early-phase clinical trials and experimental medicine

  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • GMC registration and entry on the appropriate GMC Specialist Register
  • Completed core medial training or equivalent

Experience

  • Clinical audit experience

  • Undergoing or completed higher specialist training in Oncology
