Job summary

Candidates are invited to apply for a clinical fellowship in Neuromuscular Disease from December 2023 for one year based in the Motor Neurone team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. The centre is the only one of its kind in the UK and provides holistic, multi-disciplinary care including neurology, respiratory, cardiac, gastro and a wide range of therapy services. The Centre for Neuromuscular Disease (CNMD) at Queen Square is the largest adult neuromuscular service in the UK and sees patients from a wide geographic area.

Main duties of the job

This post will provide a unique opportunity to acquire experience in managing a wide range of rare neuromuscular disorders. The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating and supervising in-patient admissions, undertaking outpatient work and data collection for prospective audit. The post would be most suitable for a senior trainee for out of programme fellowship or post CCST individuals wishing to obtain further experience and training in Neuromuscular disease although we will consider any level of experience. Appropriate support and supervision will be in place.

  • Registered Medical Practitioner at ST3 or above
  • Completed general medical training
  • On GMC register

Experience

Essential

  • Involvement in the clinical audit process and an understanding of the aims thereof

Desirable

  • Clinical Experience in acute medicine or neurology at SpR level
  • An indication of effective research carried out under direction
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Experience in data collection, management, analysis and presentation

  • Excellent communication skills/verbal and written
  • Excellent organisational skills

Desirable

  • Good computing skills (database, statistics)
  • Ability and commitment to teach in a clinical and non-clinical setting
