Job summary
This is a less-than-full-time 6-month locum post (renewable by mutual agreement to 12 months) supporting Clinical Microbiology services at UCLH with a leading role in infection prevention and control and overseeing the clinical infection service for the intensive care units at UCLH. This includes aspects of diagnosis and management of infection and antimicrobial stewardship.
This post sits within the Division of Infection at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to consultant delivery of clinical and laboratory microbiology liaison and antimicrobial stewardship at the Trust.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will take up their appointment in February 2024.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will contribute to training junior doctor and nursing members of staff. The consultant will work closely with healthcare professional colleagues in the intensive care unit and alongside colleagues in microbiology, virology, infection control and infectious diseases.
The consultant will contribute to the teaching of infection and microbiology to undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing staff. He/she will participate in regular ward rounds, MDT meetings, audit and clinical governance activity.
The post holder will be expected to deliver a total 6.5 PAs (including SPAs to support governance, research, training and development activities).

Essential
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
- Applicants that are UK trained, must be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Medical Microbiology, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview OR Applicants that are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
