Anticoagulation Clinic HCA

Band 3

The Cancer Services Division is currently looking to recruit an Anticoagulation Clinic HCA working within the Haematology department. This is an exciting opportunity for a hard-working and enthusiastic HCA to join our specialised Antigoagulation clinic.

The post holder will work closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists in clinic. They will be responsible for providing essential clinical assistance to our patients in a very busy fast-paced clinic. They will assist in obtaining point of care blood samples from patients following full training and assessment. The individual will be also be expected to provide a high quality, patient focused and responsive administrative function when necessary.

The candidate will also be the main reception contact on site in clinic throughout the day, so will possess excellent organisational, communication skills and they must be able to work well in a team and take instructions from several sources.

This post is full time Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) works as part of the department team under the supervision of registered nurses, and: -- Participates in the delivery of patient care- Contributes towards department organisation- Supports registered nurses in the provision of a safe and caring environment- Assists with the induction, supervision and training of new HCA

The candidate will also be expected to manage the reception area for the Anti-Coagulation team.

The Band 3 HCA demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.The Band 3 HCA will adhere to Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England (2013), and Compassion in Practice

Key Working RelationshipsKey working relationships with all members of the multi-professional team, including nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communication

  • Communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with the multidisciplinary team, patients and their family/visitors/carers
