Band 8a TYA Cancer Daycare Advanced Nurse Practitioner
1.0 WTE Fixed Term Maternity Leave cover
An opportunity has arisen for a fixed term post in our ANP team within Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Daycare. UCLH is one of the largest cancer services for young people and is a specialist service for Sarcoma. This post supports patients aged 13-24 year olds undergoing treatment for cancers in daycare/ambulatory care. The role has an important function as part of a larger MDT. The ANP role is a role with increasing presence within young people's cancer services at UCLH and crosses professional boundaries, undertaking traditional medical roles and leading the way in interprofessional practice. It is a role model of excellence in the delivery of holistic care to children and young people with cancer. The post holder is required to deliver a high level of clinical practice within the field of Adolescent Oncology. There is potential for learning and development during this fixed term.
Main duties of the job
- Work with other members of the team to ensure high quality care
- Review CYPs at intervals through their treatment journey, applying and communicating a plan of care as needed.
- Identity CYPs at high risk of complications and apply preventative measures to minimise toxicity within a scope of practice
- Support the psycho-social needs of the CYPs as needed.
- Review the pathways for CYPs having cancer treatment, and use skills to fill any gaps
- Ensure adequate communication to inpatient, daycare referring hospitals and associated services as needed

Essential
- Registered Nurse Part 1, 12.
- Post registration cancer nursing course
- Chemotherapy course or equivalent
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner MSc or equivalent - completed or near to completion
- Teaching in the clinical setting or equivalent.
- Non-medical prescribing course or willingness to work towards.
Desirable
- ALS course.
- Experience as a qualified ANP and with relevant qualifications
