Job summary

Applicants are invited for the Advanced clinic fellow in movement disorders (SPR Level) working at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Queen Square.

The holder of this post will work in the Movement disorders firm. The post holder will have the same educational opportunities and clinical and educational supervision arrangements as the other neurology/stroke SpRs with NTNs.

This position is available from February 2024 for 12 months.

All candidates should have full registration with the GMC. MRCP or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery are advertising a one year full time clinical fellowship post to attain advances specialist skills across a spectrum of neurological services.

Candidates will have to opportunity to learn from observation and encouraged to develop autonomous clinical assessment and decision-making skills over the course of the fellowship. Multi-disciplinary engagement with specialist nursing, OT, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy neuropsychology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuroradiology, neurophysiology, laboratory based neuroimmunology and neurointensive care is integrated into daily practice. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work closely with the plasma exchange team, neuro-pharmacists and take part in the weekly encephalitis MDT

Teaching

There are daily opportunities to attend teaching. These include grand rounds, clinico-pathologic cases, bedside teaching and consultant-led tutorials, often by international experts. One teaching session is protected: a weekly teaching session tied to the curriculum and delivered by consultants.

Supervision

All NHNN trainees will have a named educational supervisor and an electronic portfolio on which to log progress.
