Job summary
Due to the promotion of the existing postholder, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant General Manager (AGM), to provide operational managerial support within the Critical Care Division. The post holder will be working closely with the General Manager and will provide strategic support covering finance management, business continuity, project management, recruitment and business planning.
The AGM is responsible for ensuring services are efficiently and effectively run within the Division and for ensuring that a positive experience for staff and patients is maintained and auditing this regularly. You will support the General Manager with the delivery of all performance and business elements along with key initiatives within the directorate.
The post holder will also line manage a group of admin staff.
The post holder will be required to leadership cover across our 4 ITU's located at: Wards T03 & T06 at UCH, Level 1 at WMS and Level 1 in our new state of the art Haem-onc unit on the Grafton Way Site. The postholder will be the nominated Lead Manager for our Grafton Way and will be based on this site.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who meets the below criteria:
- Minimum 1 year at Band 6 level
- You must be a quick learner, proactive and able to problem solve
- be able to demonstrate relevant experience, in particular line management of staff
- must be strongly orientated towards service and staff improvement
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills - written and verbal
- Intermediate to advanced IT skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data.
- ability to remain confident and calm under pressure
- ability to prioritise an extremely busy workload and work effectively with other members of the Clinical and Divisional management team.
Candidates must be able to multi-task numerous jobs each day and be flexible with their approach to work and adapt to competing and changing demands in our fast-paced environment.
You will deputise for the General Manager and provide operational management support for a range of divisional projects and initiatives. You will assist with the preparation of charity bids and business cases for the Division and the delivery of specific critical service development projects across the Division.
The position is a valued member of the Senior Leadership team within the Division.
