Job summary
Applications are invited for a part-time Specialty Doctor in Periodontology to start at the earliest opportunity. This is a substantive part time 3.5 sessions appointment to support provision of personal patient care with a teaching and training component of specialty trainees in Periodontology.
The post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join an established team in providing a wide range of periodontal services, postgraduate training and research. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills and experience in postgraduate teaching and training.
Candidates should ideally be on the Specialist Register in Periodontology. Applicants must have experience of teaching and supervising trainees undertaking surgical procedures.
Main duties of the job
University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Periodontology. The post holder will have a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.
The post is 3.5 sessions on Thursday/Friday (with flexibility), inclusive, in the Department of Restorative Dentistry in Periodontology Unit at the Eastman Dental Hospital (RNTNE and ED Hospitals, UCLH).
The post-holder will be expected to show drive and initiative towards patient care putting the patient first in line with the Trust core values. He/she will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of Periodontology. The post-holder should demonstrate a high-quality approach to patient management. As the post-holder will be an integral part of the departmental team, the ability to lead and work as a team member is essential.
Participation in issues such as clinical effectiveness relating to patient management is essential as well as sharing in the administrative tasks in the Department and Division. He/she will be expected to work closely with the Clinical Lead. The post-holder will be expected to undertake mandatory training in line with the requirements of the Department and the Trust.

- Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC)
- On the GDC's Specialist Register for Periodontics within 6 months of eligibility for inclusion
- Successful completion of an SAC approved training programme in Restorative Dentistry and/or in Periodontology or equivalent.
- Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Periodontics at date of AAC or within 6 months[interview]
- NB: Non UK trained doctors should be on the GDC register and Specialist Register in Periodontics at start of appointment
