To support the Centre for Imaging (CMI) research team with study administration to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of Imaging trials and other studies according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), trust policies and all applicable regulations and governance. The Research Support Worker is a member of the CMI team, responsible for providing efficient and effective day to day administrative service including supporting the research practitioners.

Main duties of the job

The post holder plays a key role in supporting the trial team in administrative tasks and is a key point of contact for hospitals participating in our trials. The post holder will also assist in developing standard practices within CMI and in problem-solving.

Responsibilities include creation and maintenance of databases for imaging trials, completion of case report forms and the creation and maintenance of a database of trial activity. They will have the ability to work without supervision in some areas, e.g. dealing with telephone and personal enquires from staff, patients and carers, answering queries where possible and ensuring appropriate personnel are informed for further action to be taken.

The team supports both - current and new research and ensures that trials are conducted to the highest standards and in accordance with UK legislation and the R&D Governance Framework. The aim of the CMI group is to effectively manage resources to ensure that patients have access to entry into clinical trials, as appropriate, and maintain the highest quality of care for patients. This is a key appointment within the team; a strong desire to promote a supportive and empathetic approach as well as assisting investigators with trial set up and on-going accrual is essential.

The university campus has the greatest concentration of medical research in Europe, with the MRC clinical trials unit and the Welcome Trust just around the corner on Euston Road.
