Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a new role as 'Private Patient Billing Team Leader. The Private Healthcare Division provides support and management oversight for private patient services within the Trust.

The role will support the Billing Services Manager with a responsibility to ensure that all chargeable private patient activity is billed accurately, on time and in line with the targets set by the Private Healthcare Team. The post-holder will complete their duties & responsibilities in line with local standard operating procedures and those of the trust. The team will be expected to ensure all aspects of this job description are carried out in line with the timelines advised by the Private Healthcare department. The Private Patient Billing Team Leader will work under the supervision of the Billing Services Manager.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will need to have excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of some medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Compucare for all private patient financial services
  • Experience dealing with Private Medical Insurance
  • Previous supervisory experience

KEY TASKS

  • Support the Billing Services Manager to ensure that work is appropriately allocated to the billing team daily.
  • Ensure that patient accounts are billed and up to date.
  • Ensure that the billing team are up to date on all HR requirements such as mandatory training, providing reports and updates to the Billing Services Manager as appropriate.
  • Support the Billing Services Manager in all aspects of recruitment and selection process of the billing team
  • Take responsibility for sickness and annual leave management for the billing team.
  • Provide cover the Billing Services Manager role during periods of absence.
  • The post holder will need to cover cashiers for the Queen Square Cashier's role as required.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
  • To be familiar with software packages such as Word and Excel and capable of using them at a basic standard.
  • To understand the wider finance structure.
  • Must accept the need to be flexible in hours of working to accommodate the needs of the department.
  • A willingness to contribute to team goals.

Desirable

  • To be conversant with all Insurance Companies Pricing Policies.
  • Sound knowledge of Compucare
  • Appreciation of an environment of Policies & Procedures and its continuous improvement

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrates experience within a finance function, with some experience within the health sector
  • Have experience of work undertaken unsupervised
  • Use of computerised accounting systems and spreadsheets
  • Experience of supervising a team of staff, OR Experience of project management and change methodology

Desirable

  • Experience of using an electronic patient record and a paying patients billing system

  • Possess good inter-personal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers both verbally and in writing
  • Able to analyse and interrogate data and performance information, using experience and judgement to make recommendations on actions
