UCLH are looking to appoint a Band 6 Senior HR Advisor to work in our Surgery and Cancer Board HR team.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain some new experience in a supportive and experienced team that offers a high level of remote and flexible working.

The role will provide excellent HR advice on a range of topics including:
- Performance
- Conduct
- Organisational Change
- Absence management
- Employee led complaints
- Job evaluation
- Agenda for Change terms and conditions
You will be a responsive HR practitioner who is good at building relations and using a coaching approach to get the best outcomes. The post holder will be instrumental in establishing and delivering excellent HR services within the new ways of working in the Surgery and Cancer Board HR team.

Main duties of the job
This is a diverse role that will include:
- Providing impartial advice to staff and managers on a range of HR policies and terms and conditions.
- Utilising a coaching approach to help develop our managers creating excellent people managers
- Supporting our key corporate priorities such as Equality Diversity and Inclusion
- Supporting departmental meetings providing high quality and accurate HR data from ESR. Using this data to generate discussion and drive improvements.
- Supporting HR Heldesk and HR Helpline trust-wide as well as triaging queries withing the Surgery and Cancer board
- Monitor and manage HR compliance such as fixed term contracts and right to work

Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
- Holds or is working towards a Postgraduate Diploma in HR e.g. CIPD
- Significant postgraduate experience in a HR (e.g. Employee Relations, Recruitment) function
- Knowledge of a range of administrative and HR procedures and processes e.g. Recruitment, Employee Relations
- Demonstrable experience in taking HR issues through to completion e.g. recruitment episodes, employee relations cases
- Basic working Knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions e.g. Agenda for Change
- Experience in implementing policies
- Working in busy environment with tight deadlines
- Advanced skills in Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Demonstrable experience of data analysis and manipulation
- Knowledge of and experience of working with workforce related compliance targets, with a good understanding of the importance of achieving these
Desirable
- Trained or willing to work towards being trained in the Agenda for Change job matching process
- Experience of delivering HR training to managers
- Experience in Project Work
