Job summary

We are looking for a qualified audiologist with broad experience in paediatric audiology with children of all ages to join our team in a Fixed Term 1.0 FTE band 7 role until 31st March 2024. You will work in a team of audiologists in the RNENT Paediatric Audiology service and work alongside Multidisciplinary Teams when assessing patients and planning their management.

The RNENT paediatric audiology service is a tertiary level paediatric audiology center and provides comprehensive audiological assessment including children with complex needs, balance, APD and tinnitus / hyperacusis specialist services. The post-holder will gain experience in dealing with complex patients and will be supported by a broad multidisciplinary team including Audiovestibular Physicians, ENT, Speech-language therapists, teachers of the deaf and psychologists. There is opportunity for the post-holder to develop their skill and interests in these specialist services alongside the routine services.

Main duties of the job

The role includes carrying out hearing assessments (VRA, play and routine audiometry), hearing aid fitting and review including bone-conduction hearing aids, newborn threshold ABR testing as part of the Newborn Hearing Screening Program and tertiary referrals from other centers. The role also includes Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) testing as part of a long- established APD service. There is potential for the role to include paediatric vestibular testing including ENG / VNG, VEMPS and vHIT as part of a balance testing service.

You should already hold a BSc or MSc in Audiology or have equivalent qualifications (e.g., BAAT Parts 1 and 2) and be registered with HCPC or RCCP as an Audiologist or Audiological Scientist.
