Job summary

University College London Hospital has a well-established, state-of-the-art gastrointestinal unit comprising a team of the highest calibre and experience. The purpose of the IBD team is to provide treatment that is safe and expeditious, patient friendly and evidence-based.

As part of this team we are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) to cover a maternity leave post for 12 months. The successful candidate will become an integral part of the established nurse led service and work alongside the IBD CNS's and wider IBD MDT.

There are approximately 5000 patients (adult and adolescent) under the care of the IBD team at UCLH. The post holder will provide high standards of care within the well-established IBD nurse team, ensuring efficient running and supporting all aspects of the nursing service. They will provide specialist nursing advice and offer support and guidance to patients and families. The post holder will see patients in both the outpatient and inpatient setting, including the IBD infusion clinic and assist in co-ordination of care and biologic treatment (Currently 650 patients)

This post would suit a current band 5 or band 6 nurse looking to expand their knowledge and skills as training and support will be given.

Main duties of the job

This post will be based at UCLH within the Colorectal Medicine service as a key member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease team at University College London Hospital. This post would suit a current band 5 or band 6 nurse looking to expand their knowledge and skills. An interest in IBD is beneficial, but not essential as full training will be given.
