This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the RLHIM, Europe's largest public-sector provider of integrated medicine. We provide an innovative patient-centred service integrating the best of conventional and complimentary approaches. This role forms an integral part of our Chronic Fatigue, and Fibromyalgia pathways, delivering a range of self-care strategies for patients with complex needs living with these ongoing conditions. Your role will involve unsupervised lone working, so we expect you to be confident and highly experienced.

You will work alongside several specialists including consultants, physiotherapists, cognitive behavioural psychotherapists, a dietitian, autogenic trainers and a mindfulness practitioner. Appointments are currently delivered face-to-face, via telephone or video consultation on an outpatient basis. This could include working from home.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Occupational Therapist with excellent communication skills and an innovative and flexible approach. You will bring the skills you have acquired elsewhere in the NHS to deliver both group and 1:1 sessions, focused on self-care strategies, to your patients. We will provide in-house 1:1 and peer supervision. The successful candidate will also attend regular multidisciplinary team meetings.

Main duties of the job

The occupational therapist will provide input for the Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Syndrome Pathways, assessing and providing individualised follow-up treatment sessions.

1. To be a key member of the RLHIM AHP Team

2. To provide highly specialist outpatient occupational therapy assessment and treatment to a range of appropriate patients with enduring physical health conditions and resulting psychological sequelae3. To be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of occupational therapy clinical case-load

4. To participate in MDT meetings with colleagues when required

5. To act in consultative capacity in matters relating to occupational therapy to RLHIM colleagues

6. To act as an education resource to RLHIM staff relating to the range of patients treated

7. To promote the value of occupational therapy for patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Syndrome to colleagues within the RLHIM and other relevant stakeholders

  • Evidence of recent CPD activity relevant to this position

  • Postgraduate qualification in specialist area at a Master's or equivalent level in specialist field

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of using highly specialist knowledge of occupational therapy skills to treat chronic fatigue and chronic widespread pain.
  • Experience of working within an MDT setting in the NHS.
  • Experience of using patient-reported outcome measures.
  • Experience of managing own caseload effectively.
  • Previous experience regarding quality standard setting, audit and evaluation.
