Main duties of the job
We are 4 critical care units spread over 3 sites: University College Hospital (UCH) London has 35 beds and is a general unit taking patients from our busy emergency department, after major surgery, from the wards as well as tertiary referrals from across the UK and abroad. Westmoreland Street has 9 beds and takes mostly high risk and complex surgical patients.
Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic our team is looking forward to 2022, we will be opening our new state of the art cancer facility which has 10 beds and will take primarily haematology patients. Our new PACU will be located on the 6th floor at UCH site taking high risk surgical patients undergoing Head & Neck, Gynae, colorectal and upper GI surgery.
Critical Care nursing opens many doors for you and we will invest in your future development which could lead you into exciting roles within critical care such as Charge Nurse, Senior Nurse, Matron, Education Team Sister or Advanced Critical Care Practitioner. We work very closely with the Patient Emergency Response & Resuscitation Team where our nurses have also rotated in to.
