Job summary

Applications are invited for a joint part-time 6PA Consultant in Endodontics and a 3PA Professor/Clinical Honorary Consultant in Endodontics as a substantive contract. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to become part of an established team with a highly regarded international reputation within the specialties of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry.

The 6PA Consultant post is based at the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, part of the Specialist Hospitals Board of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicants will join consultant colleagues as part of a wider established team providing a full range of restorative services, postgraduate training and research. Applicants will be expected to have excellent communication skills, a high level of clinical experience and knowledge of endodontics and enthusiasm for postgraduate teaching and training.

The 3PA Clinical Honorary Consultant post is based at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute which is an internationally recognised centre for excellence for postgraduate education and research relevant to oral health care. Together with UCLH NHS Foundation Trust's National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals (UCLHT EDH) it provides care to patients with complex oral health needs.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to establish and co-ordinate the delivery of Continued Professional Development allied to Endodontics and assist in the establishment of new credit-bearing programmes.

They will be expected to comply with both UCL and NHS regulations in line with clinical research and the delivery of clinical care and will be expected to adhere to the governance requirements such that quality standards are met.

The appointee will play a key role the organisation and delivery of teaching postgraduate of Masters, Specialist training and PhD programmes within the unit of Endodontology. This will incorporate small group teaching in the form of tutorials, seminars and case conferences; with a focus on developing and implementing new and relevant educational techniques. Teaching will encompass the supervision of clinical work of postgraduate students and trainees and involve instruction on all aspects of technical endodontic skills development in the laboratory. The work will include academic and some administrative duties to support the smooth running of the unit.

The post-holder will play a significant role in the delivery of postgraduate education, including didactic teaching of postgraduate students enrolled in our Programmes and clinical supervision of NHS and university trainees.
