Job summary

An opportunity has arisen within the Royal National Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital & Eastman Dental Hospital for AfC Band 5 Team Leader within the Dental Laboratory & Implant Team.

The Dental Laboratory Team currently consists of 3 x Band 3s but this is currently being reviewed and is subject to change.

The post holder will provide expert knowledge of administrative procedures and provide supervision and leadership in the delivery of a high quality, effective, and efficient service for both the multidisciplinary teams and patients, with a focus on delivering a positive patient experience, and excellent customer service.

The post holder will be required to liaise with a range of staff internally and externally across the Trust and with partner and external organisations.

In addition, as the most senior member of the specialty administration function, the post holder will take on delegated duties from divisional management team members.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for improvements in service delivery and service efficiencies, improving patient care at the forefront.

The role is a permanent role and is a great opportunity to step up into management.

Job responsibilities

The Band 5 Team Leader plays a crucial role in Dental Laboratory and Implants department by supervising and coordinating the activities of the team members. The Team Leader serves as a point of contact between the management and the team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient workflow throughout the department.

The Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department, from scheduling and assigning tasks to monitoring the progress of projects. This helps to ensure that all activities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity.

The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring quality work, providing guidance and support to the team members, and fostering a positive work environment. Their presence and active involvement contribute to the efficient functioning and success of the department.

The Team Leader ensures:-

  • Laboratory work and Implant components are captured and recorded accurately in the appropriate IT systems and in a timely manner.
  • Administer and maintain IT systems that record essential clinical and personal information about patients, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) MS Teams, Internet and Shared Email box.
  • Maintain Dental Laboratory and Implant filing systems both manually and electronically as required
  • Arrange the collection and delivery of Dental Laboratory work from the external Laboratories to clinical floors in a timely manner.
  • To manage the implant referral and approval process
  • To manage the validation and invoice process ensuring that the Dental Laboratory work received from the external Dental Laboratories is quality assured and payment is made in a timely manner.
  • To manage and collate the weekly/monthly audit and KPI Data to report back to the Service Manager and External Dental Laboratories and Stake holders.
