Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our nationally renowned Cancer Late-Effects service: It is increasingly recognized that patients that have undergone cancer treatments can have a wide range of later presenting effects that can impact on their lives and wellbeing.

This is within a small nurse-led team that works autonomously with excellent consultant staff support. It provides great scope and opportunity to develop your advanced nursing skills on direct patient care in nurse led clinics and patient liaison with a wide range of stakeholders both internally at UCLH and externally.

The service is part of the renowned cancer nursing service at UCLH and we provide professional development, both in-job and through post graduatepathways. You have the opportunity to attend national and international conferences

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide high quality care as part of the Late Effects Clinical Nurse Specialist service. They will ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. They will be responsible for coordinating care, managing a caseload of patients, as part of the Multidisciplinary team. The role includes the provision of care in the outpatient setting and also via telemedicine. The post holder will also provide telephone support and advice to their patients. The role includes conducting service audits and obtaining patient experience feedback.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a role within the Trust integral to the provision of a high-quality service for patients under the care of the Late Effects service. Central to the role is a collaborative approach with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), working across professional and organisational boundaries as necessary in order to provide a comprehensive patient-focused service.

The post holder will also engage with networking with external stakeholders and engaging with Late Effects services in other organisations to help develop the best possible care for patients.
