Job summary

As a Clinical Engineering Technologist, you should already be an experienced technologist working independently providing excellent support to medical equipment with experience of calibration and repair of a wide range of Medical Devices.

You set high standards, are safety conscious and always ensure services are provided to enhance and improve patient care. You should be comfortable working in a team with or without supervision.

Main duties of the job

  • Work with the MEMS workshop team leader and other team members in MEMS to carry out servicing and repair of a wide range of medical equipment and systems and update daily all the work on e-Quip- asset management database system
  • Provide technical training sessions on a regular basis to the associate clinical engineering technologists so that they acquire the appropriate knowledge and experience and become more competent to provide first line support to medical devices.

  • Prioritise and manage own work in accordance with MEMS section policies and competing service demand
  • Plan and organise the spares and accessories required to provide MEMS support to all Clinical areas across UCH, whilst optimising storage space
  • Repair and maintain to the highest standards multiple types of medical equipment related problems.
  • Support and participate in all Medical Devices Integration which are connected to EPIC in such a way as to ensure that these Devices remain in a fully functional and safe state.

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential

  • HND or equivalent in Engineering or Physical Science
  • BEng / BSc or equivalent in Engineering or Physical Science or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Training to Postgraduate Diploma level or Technician Engineer with membership of relevant professional body

Desirable

  • Registration as Clinical Technologist

  • A practical experience in Medical engineering workshop practices and techniques with experience of medical management/maintenance of electro medical equipment.
  • Show evidence of understanding the requirements for working in clinical areas
  • Experience in the calibration and maintenance of medical and physiological measurement equipment
  • Broad knowledge of medical device operation and management

Key Skills-physical & emotional effort, working conditions and physical skills
