Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic clinical pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, responsible for the delivery of a range of pharmacy services to the MS and Pharmacy service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to cover the MS Lead Clinical position. You will take a leading role within the MS multidisciplinary team which is expanding and developing new areas of treatment and patient services.
Main duties of the job
The pharmacy team is well integrated into clinical practice and works closely with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other ward staff in order to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy support for inpatients and outpatients.
We are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with the requisite knowledge, skills, experience and expertise to lead and develop a high quality pharmacy service to the MS service.

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) is the United Kingdom's oldest and largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital. We are part of University College London Hospitals NHS foundation Trust (UCLH) and we are linked with the University College London (UCL) Institute of Neurology. The NHNN is a leading centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of conditions such as epilepsy, MS, Alzheimer's, stroke and head injuries.
The majority of the Neurology and Neurosurgery services are provided from within the NHNN. The hospital comprises 240 inpatient beds including a specialist neuro-critical care unit two busy outpatient departments and a Day Care Centre. We also provide a pharmacy service to the Charles Dent Metabolic Unit, a treatment centre for adolescents and adults with inherited metabolic diseases. We are one of the designated national lysosomal storage disease centres.

You will be working closely with the MS Lead Nurse to ensure the on going blood monitoring service. You will have weekly clinic commitments within the Nurse Led Disease Modifying Drug follow up clinics and daily commitment to meet the MS nursing team to ensure a smooth patient pathway. You also will be working with the UCLH homecare team to support the smooth running of the MS home deliver service Additional divisional responsibilities include governance, financial responsibility: Blue teq Support; medicines information, CIP programme delivery, service evaluation, multiprofessional education and training and other strategic projects as required.
You will also work as part of our broader clinical pharmacy team, and contribute to local and national initiatives to develop and enhance the pharmacy service and medicines management across the Trust. You will contribute to the delivery of educational and developmental programmes, including the Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.

- Completion of a Master's degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Minimum of five years' experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner
- Clinical experience of general medicine, general surgery (including non-specialist neurology patients)
- Variety of clinical experience equivalent to a Masters/doctorate level
- An advanced level of professional reasoning and judgement
- Professional accountability to patients
- Demonstrates a whole-system approach that is centred on the goal of ensuring patient safety
