Haematology is a great specialty to nurse in, providing everything from acute care, chronic care, palliative care and nurse led care! We really understand that to retain our excellent staff we must provide a positive working culture, safe staffing levels that enable you to do your job well, supporting professional & academic development and social events! These aren't empty words. This is our unit for real, our team and we are proud of it.It also happens to be the largest most progressive haematology service in the country with 100 dedicated haematology inpatient beds. A dedicated Cancer Centre for daycare and ambulatory care patients and a haematology clinical trials team, so lots of future directions in which your career can build from the ward specialty. This year our bed base expanded to 130 when we moved the service into its own state of the art dedicated Haematology Hospital Building.
Main duties of the job
1.. To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevantprofessional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker (with facilitation) for adefined group of patients and take responsibility for:? Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clients? Assessment of care and health education needs? Development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of careincluding discharge planning for each patient2. Under supervision, to gain experience and skills in:? Clinical practice? Facilitation and teaching? Management (as appropriate)3. To work in accordance with UCLH Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and CoreStandards and contribute towards achieving the Trust's "Top 10" Objectives4. To maintain effective communication5. To provide a high standard of holistic patient-centred care6. *To take charge of the ward/department in the absence of senior nursing stafffollowing performance review against the agreed KSF outline and progressionthrough the first gateway
