London Ambulance Service NHS Trust (LAS) plays a vital role in the health and wellbeing of one of the world's most dynamic and diverse cities. Serving over nine million people, our teams respond to emergencies, deliver urgent care, and work with health and social care partners to keep Londoners safe. Our vision is to build a world-class ambulance service for a world-class city - one that is respectful, professional, innovative and collaborative.
We are now seeking an outstanding Director of Corporate Affairs to join our Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to our new Chief Executive, Jason Killens KAM, this is a pivotal role, providing senior-level leadership of the Trust's corporate governance, legal, patient experience, and information governance functions. Acting as the senior advisor to the Chair, Chief Executive and Board, you will ensure that LAS meets the highest standards of governance, regulatory compliance, and public accountability.
Main duties of the job
You will lead on Board and committee governance, ensuring effective agenda setting, information flow, and decision-tracking. You will maintain and develop the Board Assurance Framework, support strategic decision-making, and advise on all corporate governance matters, particularly where political or public sensitivity is a factor. Your remit will also encompass oversight of complaints, legal services, PALS, and patient experience, ensuring that learning from feedback informs service improvement.
You will manage a skilled team, provide visible and motivational leadership, and ensure that corporate governance systems are fit for purpose and responsive to changing demands.
We are looking for an individual with substantial senior-level experience in corporate governance within a complex organisation, including the NHS, central or local government or from candidates in a similarly regulated sector. You will combine intellectual acuity with tact, diplomacy, and strong organisational skills. A proven track record in working with Boards, developing policy, and delivering measurable improvements is essential, as is the ability to inspire confidence across a diverse range of stakeholders.
