Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our 999 Clinical Assessment Service supporting clinical safety and telephone assessment of patients within one of two 999 Emergency Operations Centres (Newham/Waterloo).
You will work autonomously within your scope of practice and experience as part of a friendly, supportive and collaborative multi-skilled team that also includes other RGNs, Mental Health nurses, Paramedics, Doctors.
You will provide assessment, advice and referrals by phone to ensure safe, patient centred outcomes. It's a great chance to develop your skills and experience in a uniquely well-structured, supportive clinical environment. You will assess the health and clinical needs of patients, utilising your professional clinical judgement, supported by clinical assessment software. This requires excellent clinical and communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
You'll also be able to keep your skills up to date with our (CPD) programme - and can expect education and training tailored to your needs and future plans.
A full package of training will be provided, including enhanced clinical telephone assessment skills and 1-1 mentoring and ongoing supervision during your time with us.
The position is flexible, and you will have the option to join us on a permanent, full / part time basis. We are also the fantastic option of overtime.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical advisor you will be undertake assessments of different types of calls, where you will be responsible for patient safety and providing effective outcomes.
This role requires generalist and specialist skills to deliver care to patients across all age groups in a call centre environment. You will need excellent clinical and communication skills and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will be required to act as a mentor for new colleagues.
You need a professional clinical qualification with an active NMC or HCPC registration with significant post qualification experience. You need to evidence demonstrable experience in emergency, urgent or primary care, in addition to showing current competent patient assessment skills.
