Job summary
The Operational Delivery Manager make ready (ODM- MR) is a pivotal member of the senior leadership team responsible for overseeing the complete Make Ready services for London Ambulance Service. This role plays a critical part in supporting the ambulance operational performance and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The ODM-MR is accountable for the entire make ready operations, including strategic direction, performance, financial management, and adherence to quality standards. This role also requires active engagement with internal and external stakeholders and flexibility to work outside standard hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the service demands . The ODM-MR must champion the LAS vision and values, provide leadership, and ensure a healthy and engaged workforce.
Main duties of the job
Strategic Leadership: The ODM-MR contributes to strategic discussions and decision-making, interpreting trust policies and strategies while setting goals and standards for the team.
Performance Management: They are responsible for improving key performance, quality, and personal targets and achieving budget and financial goals.
Operational Delivery: The ODM-MR oversees the day-to-day management of Make Ready services, ensuring that all local and trust-wide targets are met and maintains a safe, high-quality service.
Governance and Assurance: They manage sector managers and assistant sector managers to ensure that make ready services comply with health and safety regulations, and contribute to quality improvement measures.
Stakeholder Engagement: The ODM-MR works closely with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships, and engaging with staff and trade unions.
People Management: Leading and managing teams of up to 400+, the ODM-MR ensures a motivated and engaged workforce, provides professional leadership, and actively manages performance.
Resource and Financial Management: They manage resource budgets, procurement, resource capacity, and availability, including asset and supply management.
Flexible Hours: The role requires working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, especially during high-pressure periods such as Christmas and winter.
