Job summary

The post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day clinical supervision of London Ambulance Service (LAS) Specialist Paramedics - Primary Care (SP-PC) and Urgent Community Response (UCR) Car clinicians in conjunction with the programme Clinical Practice Development Manager.

Undertaking regular shifts as a qualified Specialist or Advanced Paramedic Practitioner in either urgent or critical care, the Clinical Supervisor (Specialist Paramedic - Primary Care) and Primary Care Network (PCN) Engagement Lead will provide expert clinical supervision to trainee and qualified SP-PCs. This will include clinical operational time and providing support and mentorship, alongside portfolio project work.

Main duties of the job

This role is accountable for developing, building and maintaining productive and highly effective relationships with PCNs across all ICS, to enable the placement of specialist and advanced paramedics and ensure the provision of effective clinical supervision within GP practices.

About us

The post holder will contribute to the provision of teaching on a one-to-one basis and in small group and formal classroom settings in conjunction with the Clinical Practice Development Manager.

  • BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science or equivalent clinical discipline
  • Extensive portfolio of continuing professional development
  • Master's Degree in advanced clinical practice or equivalent clinical discipline
  • Extensive recent experience of working as an autonomous practitioner in a specialist/ advanced clinical practice role incorporating an expanded scope of practice.
  • Experience of contributing to clinical governance (eg. developing care pathways; guidelines; training packages; teaching; mentorship; clinical audit)
  • Demonstrable ability to employ a range of management and leadership skills in clinical and operational settings
  • Ability to motivate a team to deliver high quality care.
  • Experience of providing clinical mentorship in a specialist/advanced practice setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present confidently to a range of audiences.
